  • Core Difference: The primary difference lies in the welding transformer placement, which directly impacts electrical efficiency and energy consumption.

  • Separate-Type (Cable Gun): The transformer is positioned away from the gun. This setup causes significant power loss across secondary cables, resulting in an electrical efficiency of only 50–60%.

  • Integrated-Type (IT Gun): The transformer is built directly into the welding gun. This minimizes cable power loss, delivering the same welding output with a much smaller transformer and higher energy efficiency. 

  • X-type (A-type) Spot Welding Guns: Operating like a pair of pliers, they feature long arms designed to reach deeper into workpieces. They are best suited for horizontal spot welding applications

  • C-type (Push-type) Spot Welding Guns: Apply electrode force in a perfectly straight line. This linear force transmission makes them ideal for vertical spot welding applications

  • Maximum Arm Length: The maximum custom welding arm length engineered by WPI Taiwan to date is 1200 mm

  • Customization: Welding arms can be fully customized in length, angle, and profile to meet specific workpiece geometries and application requirements. 

  • Important Technical Note: Note that longer welding arms increase electrical resistance and impedance, resulting in higher current loss and reduced welding efficiency during operation. 

  • Microprocessor Welding Controllers: Offer superior precision, flexibility, and process control. They provide precise welding current and weld time control, support multiple welding parameter settings, and feature constant current monitoring to ensure consistent, high-quality welds. 

  • Traditional Digital Controllers: Provide basic welding parameter adjustments with significantly less flexibility and fewer control functions for complex welding applications. 

  • Standard Range: The standard cable length allows a movement radius of up to 3 meters. Keeping the cable under 3 meters is critical to ensuring a stable welding current. 

  • Extended Reach: For applications requiring a longer operating range, customized cable and system configurations can be designed to maintain stable welding current and consistent welding performance.
